Melissa Whippo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as a Certified Yoga Instructor.

Melissa has provided therapy for individuals, couples and families for over 15 years. For over a decade, she has worked at UCSF Medical Center. She facilitated grief support groups for parents whose children died. Melissa currently provides individual assessment and treatment for patients at any stage in their fertility process, pregnancy and the postpartum setting. She also co-founded the Afterglow Postpartum Support Group and began a Pre-natal Yoga Program at UCSF. She offers support to Obstetric and Pediatric medical residents as well as teaches a class on Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders in the School of Medicine.

In her private practice, Melissa offers therapeutic support to individuals and couples who seek emotional wellness. She works with people who suffer from depression, anxiety, addiction, grief and trauma, as well as those who wish to integrate their personal journeys with psychedelic medicine.

Her approach is warm and personable. She combines traditional psychoanalytic theories with somatic understanding, using aspects of yoga, mindfulness meditation and sacred plant wisdom when appropriate.

She supports people to integrate all the pieces of themselves, as wholeness in mind, body and spirit enables all of us to offer our unique gifts to the world.
